Doctoral Workshop
The Doctoral Workshop is one of the Satellite Events of the 4th International Conference on Dynamics in Logistics – LDIC 2014. It addresses doctoral candidates in the early stages of their PhD projects. It offers an opportunity to present and defend a research topic, the primary initiative for a research approach and initial results. The purpose is to generate impact for the progress and the excellence of the thesis by discussing and reviewing the research proposals, and to present the research in an international context. Thus, a second integral aspect of the Doctoral Workshop will be the training of professional presentation skills for science and academia.
The Doctoral Workshop intends to provide PhD students who do not have enough results with an opportunity to contribute a short conference paper. Nevertheless, the doctoral candidates should also take the opportunity to participate in the conferences which gives access to the worldwide leading capacities in the area of logistics. The accepted participants will be invited to register as students.
Addressed Topics
All research topics which are called for the LDIC conference are also relevant for the Doctoral Workshop. The research proposals should address one of the topics listed here: www.ldic-conference.org.
Submission Rules
The Doctoral Workshop is based on the submission of a research plan (not more than 5 pages), which will be reviewed by a program committee. In the case of acceptance, the candidates are invited to present their topics (10 min. rehearsal, 45 min. feedback/review, 5 min. presentation). The Doctoral Workshop will start with a tutorial to introduce and train researchers on the basics of research methodology, professional presentation style and academic writing. Afterward, any participants will get the chance to publish an updated abstract of her/his research proposal in the LDIC Proceedings.
